The LUX Style Awards office announced nominations in 28 categories this week for the year 2019. Nominations in the categories of Fashion, Film, Music and Television were announced for the 19th LUX Style Awards.
Due to the pandemic, the voting with the jurors for the four categories was conducted online, and overseen by auditors, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC).
Earlier this year, the LUX Style Awards team had announced a postponement of the annual event and pledged to support those in the entertainment and fashion industry impacted the most by the on-going pandemic. LSA redirected show funds and partnered with the Akhuwat Foundation, to support the impacted members of these industries.
Asima Haq, Director, Beauty and Personal Care at Unilever Pakistan says, “Conceived 20 years ago as a platform focused on celebrating and promoting the entertainment and fashion industries of the country, the LUX Style Awards are considered the epitome of glamour in Pakistan. Earlier this year, we took a call to redirect funds to support those who have worked tirelessly to make LSA the legacy that it is today. Through this decision, we were able to support some of the groups in the entertainment industry that were worst impacted by the pandemic.
However, keeping up with the LSA vision of honoring and recognizing exceptional work in the fields of fashion, music, television and drama, we will be awarding the coveted LSA trophies to the winners this year.”
The LUX Style Awards is an annual event held to honour the best in the fields of Fashion, Film, Music and television. The winners for the 19th LUX Style Awards will be announced in a befitting virtual ceremony later this year.

It has a great script and I am really excited to work with the amazing cast including Zara Noor Abbas, Asma Abbas, and Bushra Ansari. Being directed by Iqbal Hussain has been nothing but amazing, and I can’t wait for everyone to watch it!”
Zebaish is produced under the banner of MD Productions and is all set to go on air on HUM TV by the end of February.
Having made a name for herself as a beautician, Zoya Nasir’s debut in the showbiz industry went on to be hugely successful with her brilliant portrayal of an abused wife in the 2019 famed Hania. The young actress has proved her versatility and mettle as an actor, and can also be seen on-air currently in 7th Sky Entertainment’s Deewangi that airs every Wednesday at 8 pm on Geo TV.
The talented actress and YouTube sensation, Yashma Gill is confirmed to play a pivotal role in Bilal Abbas Khan’s next project “Pyar Ke Sadqay” – that is set to go on Hum TV in early 2020.
Produced under the banner of Moomal Productions, the serial is directed by Baaghi famed director Farooq Rind and stars Yumna Zaidi as the lead with Bilal & Yashma along with Umair Rana & Atiqa Odho.
Yashma Gill stars as an innocent girl who will set on a journey of realization, regrets, and self-discovery. As she tries to get out of the shackles of her past mistakes and lapse of judgments, she faces the harsh realities of life.
alking about this new role, the excited star said, “When I first read the script, I instantly knew I wanted to take up this role. The character was surely a challenge because she has a lot of dimensions to her personality. I can’t wait for everyone to watch it!”
Due to her remarkable acting prowess, the young and talented actor has taken over our tv screens in a very short period of time. Having garnered acclaim for her roles in Qurban, Ghar Titli Ka Par, Ki Jaana Main Kaun, Piya Naam Ka Diya, and the currently on air “Alif”, Yashma Gill has proven her versatility.
Saboor Aly has been taking over our tv screens this season in some megahit dramas with some diverse roles that have managed to prove her versatility. Being used to watching Saboor Aly play the innocent, naïve and sweetheart kind of a character where she easily gains everyone’s love and sympathy, she has been standing out after picking up some diverse roles. Her role in Gul O Gulzar has brought her out of her comfort zone and it has proved that she can do more than just the stereotypical good girl roles.
Gul-o-Gulzar is a Six Sigma Plus project produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. The drama has Saboor Aly playing as Gul and Kinza Hashmi playing as Gulzar, two best friends who are quite the opposite of each other.
The drama begins with Gul and Gulzar in college where Gul gets caught and does not even care while her friend Gulzar is troubled and solves the matter through her father’s intervention. Later in the episodes we learn how Gul receives a letter from her admirer and ignores it until she finds out that her admirer came in a huge car.
Saboor Aly’s role in Gul becomes very clear in first few episodes and we get introduced to her as an antagonist for the first time. Needless to say, Saboor Aly nails her acting with just the right amount of jealousy, greediness, and selfishness required for her character.
The drama has proceeded to a point where Gulzar’s husband has brought home a friend from abroad on a business conference trip and she confides about her doubts in Gul. Gul immediately puts oil to the fire and tells Gulzar to keep an eye on him to create misunderstandings between the two.
On the other hand, Aamir’s wife Mehjabeen loses her child in a car accident and her family demand Aamir to send a divorce to Gul if they want Mehjabeen to return home. Aamir refuses because Gul is expecting too, which makes the situation messier.
The drama is heading towards such a splendid twist and Saboor Aly’s performance is justifying all the hype the drama has created. Her hold of character as an antagonist has been note-worthy, and it adds to the charm of the drama, making it an exciting watch.
Saboor Aly is doing her best in the drama and her acting by far has been one of her best performances. We have all come to hate Gul which means that as an antagonist, Saboor Aly has done her role to perfection.
What we are now interested in seeing is how Gul will handle the situation when things start going against her. Will her selfishness backfire on her, or will she able to continue her scheming against Gulzar?
Junaid Khan has been starring in back to back hit dramas, garnering critical appreciation and acclaim for his brilliant performances. The talented star is once again all set to appear in Momina Duraid’s latest venture “Kashf”, alongside Hira Mani.
Directed by the ace director Danish Nawaz, whose recent project Khaas on Hum TV went on to become one of the greatest hits of the year, “Kashf” is slated for release on Hum Tv in the last week of November. Following Sun Yara’s success, “Kashf” marks as the second project for Junaid Khan, Hira Mani, and Danish Nawaz.
Talking about his new project, Junaid Khan said, “It was a thrill to work with Danish Nawaz and Hira Mani in Sun Yara, and I am so glad to have come together for another project. I can’t wait for everyone to watch Kashf, because it is going to be an exciting one!”
With multiple hit projects to his name including, “KamZarf”, “Hania”, “Ishq Tamasha”, and “Silsilay”, Junaid Khan has managed to prove his versatility and acting prowess time and time again. He is also going to make his debut on the big screen next year with Kamran Bari’s “Kahay Dil Jidhar”.
Finally, the most awaited drama Ehd-e-Wafa was on-air on 22nd September and boy, it did not disappoint. The Pakistani military drama co-produced by ISPR and MD productions is power packed with a charming cast, but the star catching everyone’s eye is the one and only; Wahaj Ali.
The rising star, Wahaj Ali, has numerous memorable roles to his name that showcase his brilliant acting skills. He has yet again blown us away with a brilliant performance among this star-studded cast. Wahaj Ali is playing the role of a young cadet Sharik, a matric topper with a light sense of humor. It’s safe to say it’s going to be one of his best performances.
The carefree attitude, the wittiness and a little playfulness is superbly delivered by Wahaj Ali; and in just the right amount. He knows well how to adopt the personality of a character and fully immerses himself in it. His antics on the football field and the lunch table were an absolute delight to watch. His transition of expressions is very smooth and natural, making every dialogue delivery very impactful.
It’s a common belief that portraying a witty character is often a difficult job. But Wahaj Ali makes it look like a child’s play. He proves that he has a strong command when it comes to humor. Every witty jab that he takes on Khurshid, his gang’s nemesis apparently, adds to his charm and keeps the scene alive. His chemistry with his co-stars, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Ahad Raza Mir is an outright delight to watch and there is no doubt they all are well suited for their roles.
All in all, Wahaj Ali has once again shown that he is a powerhouse of talent and we are really looking forward to catch him in the upcoming episodes!
