HUM Social Media Awards Powered by Facebook, the first-of-its-kind awards show in Pakistan, had captured everyone’s interest since the initial announcement by HUM Network. The audience’s anticipation can be gauged by the hundreds of thousands of votes that viewers from across the globe cast for their favourite social media stars. The awards ceremony which streamed on the official Facebook pages of HUM Network had a huge number of viewers, testifying to the fact these awards were the need of the time and that it was about time that we recognized the true potential of social media and invested in this sector as well.
The awards ceremony started with an electrifying performance of Asim Azhar and the Young Stunners. The show was hosted by the witty Yasir Hussain and the charming Mooro who kept the audiences entertained with their hilarious jokes and casual banter throughout the show. Keeping in mind the second wave of Covid-19, the number of celebrities invited to the show were kept to a minimum. One of audiences favourite off-screen couple Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt, attended the show and appreciated the organizers’ efforts for keeping the audiences entertained in these testing times by coming up with Pakistan’s digital awards show. The gorgeous Ayesha Omar was also part of the event along with everybody’s favourite, The Voiceover Man. The industry’s veteran Aijaz Aslam also shared the stage with the hosts. Melodious Asim Azhar’s soulful performance was one of the main highlights of the event.
On the awards front, Ahad and Sajal swept the categories for Most Popular Actor (Male and Female) along with awards for Most Popular On-Screen and Off-Screen Couple. The couple sent a special message thanking the audience for their votes, love and appreciation. Atif Aslam was the viewers’ choice for Most Popular Music Artist – Male and Aima Baig for the Most Popular Music Artist – Female. Shahzad Noor was awarded the Most Popular Model – Male and Sadia Khan bagged the award for Most Popular model – Female. J. received the award for the most Popular Brand of the year whereas Zainab Chotani received the award for the Most Popular Designer. Kashif Aslam of Kashee’s Beauty Parlor received viewers’ choice award for the Most Popular Makeup Artist. Shahid Khan Afridi was the audiences’ choice for the Most Popular Sports Personality and Fahad Mustafa for the Most Popular Television Host (entertainment). The Voiceover Man received the award for the Most Popular Web Show with Zaid Ali T receiving the award for Most Popular Content Creator. Last but not least, Galaxy Lollywood received the award for most Popular Social Media Portal (entertainment). Aiman Khan was given a special award for Most Followed Celebrity of Pakistan and Kashmir Golden Plate Award was given to Sooper Chef. All the winners were part of the show via audio/video calls and special messages and thanked their voters for their love, appreciation and support.

It is an appropriate time that we recognize and celebrate all the inspiring individuals working in different fields of entertainment genre, who have proved their mettle digitally with years of hard work and dedication. This event will be a stepping stone in encouraging and inspiring young and emerging content creators to utilize their platforms and their abilities to create meaningful and impactful content.”
HUM Social Media Awards Powered by Facebook is the first digitally based award show in Pakistan that has Facebook under its banner, making it distinguished and authentic in its true sense by recognizing and encouraging deserving individuals working in the fields of music, entertainment, fashion, sports and content creation who have gained popularity over the years and have made their mark digitally.
The criteria of these awards and selection of nominees was based purely on their social media followers/subscribers, interaction rate and content created between July 2019 to June 2020, using Facebook Authentic Tool. All the nominees were put up for audience voting via website and the winners were selected on the basis of audiences’ votes.
