Here we go. Another drama comes to an end. The tragic family drama Azmaish aired its last episodes over the weekend, and it would be safe to say that there have been a lot of feelings about the ending. As fans and critics have been speculating what could’ve been and couldn’t have been regarding the bittersweet ending that included Shiza’s death, all we have to say is that it was wonderful to see the character being done justice by the talented Yashma Gill.
Yashma Gill, from the very beginning, had been no less than the scene-stealer of the show. Every time she came on screen, she did justice to her roles, her character, and more importantly her dialogues. Playing a negative role is one of the toughest jobs for actors – and it is amazing to see that Yashma Gill hits the nail right on the head every single time with her performances.
She managed to stir all the right emotions in the drama throughout – and till the very end. No matter what, the audience couldn’t overlook Shiza till the very end, and that says enough about how well Yashma Gill has managed to play her character.
Though the drama has now reached its ending, it would definitely go down as one of the defining performances of Yashma Gill’s career, who, it is pleasing to notice has come very far at such a young age. For now, we can’t wait to see what the actress has in store for us next!

The latest release ‘Ghalti’ has been garnering critical acclaim and audience’s praise because of its brilliant storyline and great performances. Saba Hameed takes the director’s seat for the first time and plays a pivotal role too. It features Hira Mani, Affan Waheed, Faris Shafi, Saba Faisal, Sana Askari, and Anoushay Abbasi in crucial roles. Does Ghalti lives up to its hype? Let’s analyze.
Zaira (Hira Mani) is a happy go lucky and sweet daughter of Shabeer (Shehryar Zaidi) and Nafeesa (Saba Faisal). She lives in Dubai and is Nikahfied to cousin Saad (Affan Waheed), who lives in Pakistan and struggles to find his feet towards a good career. Being the elder son, he is carefree and doesn’t take the household responsibilities very seriously.
Maira (Anoushay Abbasi), Aliya (Sana Askari), and Sohail (Faris Shafi) are siblings of Saad. Her mother, Zaitoon (Saba Hameed), is the widow of Shabeer’s late brother. After his demise, he took the family under his wings and supported them through thick and thin. He is generous enough that he gives his property to them to live in. The twist in the tale occurs when Shabeer faces enormous losses in his business and is left with no option but to sell his house in Pakistan. He comes to Pakistan to celebrate Eid and tells Zaitoon to vacate the house. A greedy Zaitoon cannot accept this shock and reacts miserably; she threatens that if this would happen, Saad will divorce Zaira.
Standing out among the ensemble cast, Anoushay Abbasi’s act comes as a pleasant surprise. Her role has shades of grey and she does it with complete conviction. She digs her teeth well into the part and makes sure that it would get hate. She is effortless while emoting anger and stress during the transition from the big house to their old place. Abbasi has the knack of smelling good scripts with the diversified roles she has done till date. She stands tall and seems to be a person at ease with herself. Unruffled with competition, she has proved her mettle with her acting prowess and screen presence. She comes across as a no-nonsense girl and is happy with whatever she has achieved. It’s her intelligence and the charming persona that has kept the audience impressed with every performance of her.
With her character bringing new dimensions to the story, we can’t wait to watch what would happen next in Ghalti!

Zubab’s debut performance was followed by drama serial Mere Khudaya, where she played the character of Aleena. It went to become her most famous performances to date. Zubab received acclaim from critics and audiences alike. It was a role that had grey shades to it and Zubab executed it with all the nuances that were required to pull off a character like that. She was nominated in the category of Best Emerging Talent at Lux Style Awards.
After another knockout performance in the horror drama series Bandish, Zubab Rana took her career to new heights when she landed the part of Zeba in Rishtay Biktay Hain. The industry’s rising star came back to our television screens with a story that dealt with the topic of dowry and the effects that it can leave on the life of a married woman. It is a social commentary about how the practice of dowry is an evil that continues to pollute our society from within.
Zubab lives and breathes the character of Zeba with perfection. She is an innocent girl who gets married but gets entangled in the quicksand of dowry and how it ruins her life. The drama is a successful depiction of people who have greed in their hearts and the lengths that they can go to for their own selfish purposes.

Saboor Aly has been taking over our tv screens this season in some megahit dramas with some diverse roles that have managed to prove her versatility. Being used to watching Saboor Aly play the innocent, naïve and sweetheart kind of a character where she easily gains everyone’s love and sympathy, she has been standing out after picking up some diverse roles. Her role in Gul O Gulzar has brought her out of her comfort zone and it has proved that she can do more than just the stereotypical good girl roles.
Gul-o-Gulzar is a Six Sigma Plus project produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. The drama has Saboor Aly playing as Gul and Kinza Hashmi playing as Gulzar, two best friends who are quite the opposite of each other.
The drama begins with Gul and Gulzar in college where Gul gets caught and does not even care while her friend Gulzar is troubled and solves the matter through her father’s intervention. Later in the episodes we learn how Gul receives a letter from her admirer and ignores it until she finds out that her admirer came in a huge car.
Saboor Aly’s role in Gul becomes very clear in first few episodes and we get introduced to her as an antagonist for the first time. Needless to say, Saboor Aly nails her acting with just the right amount of jealousy, greediness, and selfishness required for her character.
The drama has proceeded to a point where Gulzar’s husband has brought home a friend from abroad on a business conference trip and she confides about her doubts in Gul. Gul immediately puts oil to the fire and tells Gulzar to keep an eye on him to create misunderstandings between the two.
On the other hand, Aamir’s wife Mehjabeen loses her child in a car accident and her family demand Aamir to send a divorce to Gul if they want Mehjabeen to return home. Aamir refuses because Gul is expecting too, which makes the situation messier.
The drama is heading towards such a splendid twist and Saboor Aly’s performance is justifying all the hype the drama has created. Her hold of character as an antagonist has been note-worthy, and it adds to the charm of the drama, making it an exciting watch.
Saboor Aly is doing her best in the drama and her acting by far has been one of her best performances. We have all come to hate Gul which means that as an antagonist, Saboor Aly has done her role to perfection.
What we are now interested in seeing is how Gul will handle the situation when things start going against her. Will her selfishness backfire on her, or will she able to continue her scheming against Gulzar?
