Being a drama buff, we are always on the lookout for something interesting to view on the small screen. So, when a few days back, we caught the teasers of the upcoming play ‘Deewangi’, it looked like another promising story. Here are all the reasons we are excited about this new drama!
- Its A 7th Sky Production
A production house led by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, the duo are famous for giving back to back hits like Khaani, Romeo Weds Heer, Ramz-e-Ishq, Dil Kya Karay, and Mera Rab Waris to name a few. Bringing forth stories that are unique as well as engaging, the name of the production house is enough of a guarantee that like their previous projects, Deewangi will also be different than everything else airing on our tv screens right now.
- Danish Taimoor and Hiba Bukhari Play The Lead
Bringing a fresh new couple on screen, ‘Deewangi’ is set out to impress us with Danish Taimoor and Hiba Bukhari’s on-screen chemistry. The teasers released so far have already made us excited and we can’t wait to see the dynamics between these two.
3. An Intense Love Story
Having seen the teasers of the drama, we know that the story is going to be intense. It will be a love story between Nageen and Mansoor who are poles apart but are brought together under strange circumstances. From there, the roller coaster ride will begin with Danish essaying Mansoor, an aspiring politician who falls in love with Nageen, played by Hiba Bukhari who is an ambitious and hardworking girl.
4. Sahir Ali Bagga Composed The OST
A voice to die for, Sahir Ali Bagga is full of emotions and has been belting out one super hit track after another. The OST of ‘Deewangi’ composed and sung by him; is a perfect blend of love, loss, and heartbreak which makes you want to listen to the track again and again.
5. A Star-Studded Cast
Besides Danish and Hiba, the drama will also star Ali Abbas, Zoya Nasir along with the legendary Mehmood Aslam, and Nida Mumtaz to name a few.
Written by Sadia Akhtar and directed by Zeeshan Ahmed, we are anxiously waiting for the first episode to air soon.
Pakistani dramas have been at the core of our entertainment business for decades, bringing amazing talent from actors, writers, and directors into the spotlight. In this context of reach and relevance, the makers have also taken on the responsibility of creating a positive impact on society with dramas that tackle issues, raise awareness, and break the silence by initiating dialogue on a domestic level.
‘Mere Mohsin’ revolves around a couple whose family background, social circle and financial status are contrary to one another and as love prevails they both tend to fall for each other. Mohsin (Syed Jibran) belongs to a middle-class family, consisting of her mother Khursheed Begum (Saba Hameed) and three sisters.
On the other side, there’s Soha (Rabab Hashim) the modern, rich and educated daughter of Raza (Tanveer Jamal). Her mother passed away when she was a child. She is been brought up by her father who has given her everything she desires in life.
There’s also a parallel track of Safia (Gul-e-Rana) her children Sidra (Nazish Jahangir) and Zahid (Kamran Jillani). Zahid and Jahan Ara were engaged; the relations within the family went sour when Safia called off their engagement.
As night turns into day, we see more of Mohsin trying to solve his family problems. Khursheed begum is worried about Mohsin and doesn’t want him to marry by his choice. She feels insecure that an outsider would take his only son away from her. Meanwhile, Soha gets the big shock of her life when she comes to know her father has secretly married Aalia (Fazila Qazi). Adding more to Soha’s horror, Raza brings Aalia home. He even tells her to accept her presence in the house.
Soha is now heartbroken; she wants commitment but Mohsin is clueless. Moreover, her father comes to know about her relationship and warns her not to marry in this family. The real twist in the tale happens when Mohsin finally decides to marry Soha secretly. He gets a promotion and transfers to Karachi, where his mother has planned his marriage with Sidra. The worst happens when Soha arrives at the venue just before Mohsin’s marriage with Sidra.
A mess is created, the families are shocked; Mohsin is asked to instantly divorce Soha to which he disagrees. As a result, Zahid divorces Jahan Ara. Khursheed begum after a few days forgives Mohsin and allows Soha to stay in the house only at a condition that she has to mold herself according to their lifestyle.
Soha heads towards a bitter journey of making her in-laws happy. Jahan Ara and Khursheed begum don’t let go of any opportunity to insult her. Misunderstandings are created between Soha and Mohsin, and Soha ends up leaving the house, going back to her father. Mohsin tries to mend his relations with Soha but now Raza isn’t in favor to carry this marriage forward. He comes to apologize many times but isn’t allowed to meet her.
When Soha finds out She is expecting, she buries the hatchet and returns to Mohsin’s home; this time she turns the tables in a good way. She refers Khalid for a job which he eventually gets it and Batool happily goes home. The latest episode ends on a cliffhanger note when she turns matchmaker for the wicked Jahan Ara.
Produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment, Mere Mohsin follows the basic romantic genre geometry that showcases a man surrounded by societal pressures; it’s the same prose with new grammar. It’s amazing to see how actors today don’t shy away from portraying more real roles; characters that require more than just a dazzle of glamour. Rabab Hashim proved to be the right choice for this part. She plays the stubborn, headstrong and imperfect girl to perfect with perfection. She takes the risk of doing what she hasn’t explored before and the character makes her experience a variety of emotions. Syed Jibran is equally flawless; he plays the good and responsible guy with precision. He maintains the pace of the character and not even once trembles or loses focus.
A good drama finds its audience; it just about learning a simple formula i.e. content is the king. The next episode, we are curious to know whether Jahan Ara will accept the marriage proposal arranged by Soha?

Aap employee hain, aapka kaam hai meri baat maanna.” (“Do you know who I am? Have you ever seen me on TV? You are an employee, your job is to listen to what I am saying.”)
The restaurant employee responds by saying, “Please sir, don’t be angry with us. You’re absolutely right. I was just joking.”
The employee tried apologising to Ali multiple times but the actor only stopped when he realised he was being recorded.

Saboor Aly has been taking over our tv screens this season in some megahit dramas with some diverse roles that have managed to prove her versatility. Being used to watching Saboor Aly play the innocent, naïve and sweetheart kind of a character where she easily gains everyone’s love and sympathy, she has been standing out after picking up some diverse roles. Her role in Gul O Gulzar has brought her out of her comfort zone and it has proved that she can do more than just the stereotypical good girl roles.
Gul-o-Gulzar is a Six Sigma Plus project produced by Humayun Saeed and Shahzad Nasib. The drama has Saboor Aly playing as Gul and Kinza Hashmi playing as Gulzar, two best friends who are quite the opposite of each other.
The drama begins with Gul and Gulzar in college where Gul gets caught and does not even care while her friend Gulzar is troubled and solves the matter through her father’s intervention. Later in the episodes we learn how Gul receives a letter from her admirer and ignores it until she finds out that her admirer came in a huge car.
Saboor Aly’s role in Gul becomes very clear in first few episodes and we get introduced to her as an antagonist for the first time. Needless to say, Saboor Aly nails her acting with just the right amount of jealousy, greediness, and selfishness required for her character.
The drama has proceeded to a point where Gulzar’s husband has brought home a friend from abroad on a business conference trip and she confides about her doubts in Gul. Gul immediately puts oil to the fire and tells Gulzar to keep an eye on him to create misunderstandings between the two.
On the other hand, Aamir’s wife Mehjabeen loses her child in a car accident and her family demand Aamir to send a divorce to Gul if they want Mehjabeen to return home. Aamir refuses because Gul is expecting too, which makes the situation messier.
The drama is heading towards such a splendid twist and Saboor Aly’s performance is justifying all the hype the drama has created. Her hold of character as an antagonist has been note-worthy, and it adds to the charm of the drama, making it an exciting watch.
Saboor Aly is doing her best in the drama and her acting by far has been one of her best performances. We have all come to hate Gul which means that as an antagonist, Saboor Aly has done her role to perfection.
What we are now interested in seeing is how Gul will handle the situation when things start going against her. Will her selfishness backfire on her, or will she able to continue her scheming against Gulzar?
