Beaconhouse is launching its first fully virtual School of Tomorrow (SOT) Conference: A World of Tomorrow: Negotiating a Better Future on July 10-12, 2020, made possible by the generous support of lead sponsor UBL. Targeting a global audience of over 500,000 people, the SOT seeks to understand how Covid-19 is shaping important global conversations about safer and more balanced futures, as well as pushing educators to reimagine the future of education at both school and university levels.
The conference opens with a special message by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization. The Federal Minister of Education, Shafqat Mahmood, and Sindh Minister of School Education, Saeed Ghani, are amongst key Pakistani speakers. Global participants include Andreas Schleicher, OECD’s Head of Education & Skills, Carla Rinaldi, President Fondazione Reggio Children, and Lord Jim Knight, UK’s former Minister of State for Schools along with 2 other members of UK’s House of Lords, Lord David Puttnam and Baroness Nosheena Mobarik, a life peer of Pakistani origin. Making first 2,000 Exams of Microsoft MOS and MTA free for students
Pakistan has joined the league of some of the top countries of the world by providing a Certification from Home Platform for Microsoft Certifications for its students. An agreement was reached between the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and Microsoft to provide this Certification free of cost to the first 2000 students who register for the opportunity. It’s a major step not only for bridging the gap between education and employability, but also for helping students acquire professional skills while they have more time during this Covid period.
Microsoft and HEC have been working together in a strategic partnership over the last decade to promote the use of information technology in the Higher Education sector. The partnership covers all public and private sector universities in the country, with multiple programs aimed at upskilling theyouth and providing them with multiple platforms which can be used to help build up their capacity and showcase their technical potential at a global level.
Under thisstrategic partnership,a certification platform has been launched toprovide students with a prescribed curriculum roadmap, a kindof a blueprint for technology skill development and certification. Specific areas of study include Productivity, Computer Science, Data Science, and IT Infrastructure. The offered Certifications of MTA(Microsoft Technology Associate) and MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist)provide useful credentials for individuals seeking to validate their skills and advance their careers. The exams covered include all the productivity tools under Office 365, but also cover tech intensive certification paths, such as Cloud Fundamental courses covering Azure Fundamentals, Dynamics 365 Fundamentals and Microsoft 365 Fundamentals.
Many students have found that they have more time at hand during the long COVID-19 break,which can give them the space to focus on developing marketable skills in addition to theoretical knowledge.To support such students, HEC plans to introduce the Certification from Home Platform initiative for students across Pakistan. A statue of “Ertugrul Ghazi” has been removed in the Turkish province of Ordu for resembling Turkish actor Engin Altan Düzyatan.
According to international media reports, statues of other Turkish historical figures, including Ertugrul Ghazi, were erected in the Turkish province of Ordu as part of a project, but when a picture of Ertugrul Ghazi’s statue went viral on social media, users identified that the statue resembles actor Engin Altan.
Engin Altan is a Turkish actor who has played the role of Ertugrul Ghazi in the Turkish series “Dirilis: Ertugrul”.At the request of social media users, the administration of the Turkish province of Ordo has removed the statue of Ertugrul Ghazi.
It should be noted that on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Turkish series ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ is being aired on state TV channel.
“We were disturbed by the fact that the bust of Ertugrul Gazi resembles Engin Altan Düzyatan, the lead actor in the Resurrection Ertugrul series and the same day the bust in question was removed,” said the municipality in a written statement.
Shaan-e-Pakistan announces the second edition of the Shaan-e-Pakistan Music Achievements Awards (SEPMA) to go online due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
